New Science Education Program At Our Lady of Mercy School, we use the FOSS program for science. The FOSS (Full Option Science System) program is correlated to human cognitive development. FOSS organizes thinking processes into developmental sequences. In this exciting new and innovative standards-based program, our students learn science from direct experiences in which they describe, sort, predict, infer, compare, and organize observations about objects and organisms. Practical experience in classrooms demonstrates that students learn best by doing. Our students are involved in learning concepts more fully and develop confidence in their abilities to discover and understand science.
